An Important Statement… Please Read

It has come to our attention that Rickie Allen and others acting at his direction, including Kenny Harlow, continue to publish false and defamatory statements about Legacy Mustang Preservation on Mr. Harlow’s website, on Facebook and via text message. We choose not to dignify Allen and Harlow’s actions. On October 1, 2016, Mr. Allen confiscated 175 equids and 2 steers that were in Legacy...

What’s behind the name – LEGACY?

Legacy goes back a long way when Jamie Dodson, co-founder of Legacy Mustang Preservation, had her own soccer academy. Her concept was to leave behind a legacy of understanding which was born to be Legacy Coaching. Face to face with a rare illness Jamie's life was redirected back into her passion for horses. Horses helped her through the toughest time in her life. Jamie states, "Still to this day the only time I do not carry the ‘disabled banner’ over my head is when I am in the presence of a horse." She counts it all as a blessing because she feels she is right ...

July Update

Wow! It's been quite some time since our last post. We were grateful for the cold winter to end with the spring blooms arriving and with it five babies born to the mares from the Theodore Roosevelt National Park (TNRP) in North Dakota. Going with this year's theme in the park, all the babies were named after country singers the first being Shelton who was born to Latigo on April 10th. Following Shelton's birth, on the 14th of April another colt, LeDoux, was born to the mare Chica. Shortly after their arrival at Legacy in October, Bandanna was seen ...

Operation Badlands: Return to Dignity

The last three months has been full of sorrow and joy as we welcomed the once wild horses from the North Dakota Badlands - Theodore Roosevelt National Park. All had injuries, emotional or physical, a few being minor, many concerning, and some extreme. For three months we have made their environment as positive, peaceful, and natural as possible while they healed. What started as Operation Badlands Mustang Rescue, has now become Operation Badlands: Return to Dignity. The return to dignity will look different to various members of this ...
